Truffle ceremonies

A truffle ceremony is an invitation to embark on a deeper inner journey. Magic truffles (the substance psilocybin) have been used for thousands of years for healing and spiritual growth.

What sets us apart from other providers of truffle ceremonies is our knowledge and experience. We place a very high priority on care and safety. Our founder, Kristina, is among the first group of therapists and psychologists in the Netherlands to have received official advanced training in working therapeutically with psychedelics.

Truffle ceremonies are offered individually, for couples, and in groups.

Truffle ceremony, what can you expect?

A truffle ceremony is not a quick fix for your problems. Rather, it is a thorough reset—guided by the highest standards of care and integrity for your own process.

There are times in therapy when traditional therapies cannot get to the deeper core of the issue. Where you understand your patterns, but still feel stuck inside them.

A truffle ceremony can open a temporary window in which the brain becomes more flexible, connected and receptive to change.

At Kickstart You, we keep this window open through careful preparation and an intake process, ensuring safety during the ceremony, and providing extensive follow-up support. In that sense, it’s not a one-time experience, but a process we embark on together.

This work is not about escaping pain. The point is to deal with it differently and ultimately be able to get through it.

What is it?

A truffle ceremony supports you in your personal journey toward greater awareness, breaking free from patterns, making space for emotions, and inner growth.

The process typically includes:

  • Comprehensive intake, screening, and preparation
  • A carefully guided inner experience
  • One or more integration sessions to turn insights into lasting change

The altered state allows the brain to loosen rigid patterns and access emotional material that often remains protected in regular talk therapy.

What it can support

A truffle ceremony is often used for:

  • Depression & existential distress
  • Anxiety and chronic stress
  • Trauma and attachment wounds
  • Repetitive relational patterns
  • Grief and loss
  • Emotional numbness or over-control
  • Loss of meaning or direction

This work is especially powerful for people who:

  • have had “a lot of therapy.”
  • reflective or have strong cognitive abilities.
  • Feel something is still not landing in the body

What makes Kickstart You different

Many places focus on facilitating the experience.
We focus on personal transformation in a setting where a wealth of knowledge, extensive experience in space holding, and high standards of safety and integrity for your process are paramount.

Officially trained in the Netherlands

We don’t rely solely on personal experience with truffle ceremonies. Our founder, Kristina, has been trained by a clinical psychologist and a mental health psychologist—who are also ceremonial masters—at RINO Netherlands to work with magic truffles within safe parameters. (As of 2026, only 15 people in the Netherlands hold this qualification.)

Ceremonial & Experiential

We create a supportive and beautiful setting that honors the power of what some call “nature’s medicine,” to guide you through shifts in your consciousness with the help of sounds and musical accompaniment.

Your process comes first

We focus on safety, regulation, and pace—all of which are essential for states of altered consciousness and this work. Thanks to our extensive experience, we are highly attuned and can empathize with and adapt to your process on multiple levels.

Deeply integrative

Insights mean nothing if they aren’t applied to daily life, relationships, and self-leadership. At Kickstart You, integration after a truffle ceremony is just as important as the truffle ceremony itself and is a prerequisite for embarking on this process together.

Scientifically grounded, not sensationalised

We don't promise miracles, and we keep our feet on the ground. We base our work on current scientific knowledge in this new and constantly evolving field, with the necessary preparation and ethical consideration.

Trauma- and attachment-aware

This is especially important for high-functioning clients with early relational wounds. This is a specific target group with whom we work intensively.

Intake & screening

We explore suitability, intentions, psychological history and current support system.

Frequently asked questions

How does a truffle ceremony work?

A truffle ceremony is a structured process in which altered states of consciousness are used within an ethical framework to support psychological insight and change.
Psilocybine zelf is niet gelijk te stellen aan therapie – voorbereiding, begeleiding en integratie bepalen of de ervaring tot blijvend voordeel leidt.

Psilocybin temporarily increases communication between different brain networks and reduces rigid, repetitive patterns of thought.
This creates a short-term state of increased neuroplasticity, meaning the brain becomes more open to learning, emotional processing and new perspectives.

Psilocybin-containing mushrooms are illegal. Psilocybinetruffels zijn legaal in Nederland.

When properly screened, prepared and supported, psilocybin has shown a favourable safety profile in clinical research.
However, it can intensify emotions and inner experiences, making proper guidance and integration afterward essential.

This work is never taken lightly. It’s important that you feel safe and secure in the environment where you’re doing this. It’s also good to know that truffles aren’t addictive.

The process typically includes:

  • Intake and psychological screening
  • Multiple preparation sessions
  • A guided inner experience (within legal and ethical frameworks)
  • Multiple integration sessions

Integration is where most of the long-term work happens.

You can participate in the ceremony individually, as a couple, or as a group.

At the start, we’ll welcome you with a cup of tea. You’ll have time to get to know everyone and settle in. We’ll also check with you to determine the dosage that’s right for you that day and for your process (after careful consultation). We’ll start with some bodywork (including a gentle breathing session) to help you ground yourself in your body. Next, you’ll share your intention and drink the truffle tea. About 20 minutes after drinking it, your inner journey—lasting approximately 5 hours—will begin. You’ll lie on a comfortable mattress with a comforter, eyes closed, and be guided by a sound journey. Throughout the entire ceremony, our founder, Kristina, will be by your side. For group sessions, there will be at least one additional facilitator and/or live musician present, all with extensive experience in group sessions. The end time is an estimate and may run longer, depending on how quickly your body metabolizes the substance. This process depends on several factors. We believe it’s important that you have the space to safely come down after your experience. You won’t go home until you’re ready. After the group ceremonies, there’s often an opportunity to stay overnight.

Is this the same as a psychedelic ceremony?

Yes.
But it goes beyond that. It’s not just a recreational experience where you simply experiment with truffles as a substance.

The focus is on psychological safety, your personal intention, and integrating the experience into your daily life.

This approach may be suitable for adults (18+) who:

  • Have done prior therapeutic work
  • Experience persistent emotional or relational patterns
  • Feel cognitively aware but emotionally stuck
  • Are psychologically stable and open to deep self-exploration

During the intake interview, we always carefully assess whether someone is suitable to participate in a truffle ceremony.

Truffles are not suitable for people with:

  • A history of psychosis, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia
  • Certain serious psychiatric or medical conditions
  • Cardiovascular disease, kidney disease
  • Severe (recent) substance use disorder
  • Unstable mental health or insufficient support systems
  •  Unstable mental health or insufficient support systems
  • When taken in combination with certain medications (this will be discussed in detail during your screening)
  • If you have experienced severe trauma and have no prior experience with plant-based medicines, you may only participate individually and not in a group.
  • For micro- or meso-dosing, some of these contraindications do not apply. Screening is an essential part of the process. Please contact us if you have any questions about this.

Screening is een essentieel onderdeel van het proces. Neem contact op als je hier vragen over hebt.

No.
Psilocybin is not a cure and not a shortcut.

It can open a temporary window for insight and emotional processing, but real change depends on:

  • Your readiness
  • Therapeutic integration
  • How insights are translated into daily life and relationships

People remain aware and responsive during the experience.
There is no loss of control in the way often portrayed in media.

The environment is designed so that freedom of choice, consent, and safety are always the top priorities.

No.
This work is best seen as complementary to psychotherapy, not a replacement.

In many cases, it deepens and accelerates processes that are already present in therapy or coaching.

Do any of the contraindications apply to you?

In that case, it’s especially important to trust your instincts. Do you have any reservations or questions? (We can imagine you might…) If so, please get in touch. We’ll discuss whether this is the right fit for you and whether now is the right time.

After registering, you'll receive an online intake form. We'll then schedule a personal intake session where we'll discuss everything, from preparation and your intentions to the ceremony itself and the integration process, and answer any questions you may have.

You’ll receive a preparation guide. It includes information on what’s best to avoid a week in advance (e.g., alcohol), as well as dietary tips and a list of recommended and non-recommended foods. We’ll also focus on your inner world—how to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally. During the preparation phase, you’ll have direct access to us via WhatsApp to ask any additional questions you may have.
